Introducing Dr Raymond Ashton

He is also a member of the English Bar, with chambers at 9 Stone Buildings, one of the oldest established sets of barristers’ chambers in Lincoln’s Inn.  Raymond is also a member of the Irish Bar (2003) and in 2015 he passed the Jersey law examinations, where he takes a keen interest in Jersey corporate affairs.

Not surprisingly, having initially qualified as a Chartered Accountant, International Taxation – challenges and investigations, Trusts, Money Laundering and Insolvency have formed the backbone of Raymond’s career.

Expertise A unique perspective

With international and cross-border legislation now commonplace, Raymond’s links and contacts in other jurisdictions – Jersey, The Isle of Man and other Crown Dependencies, the Cayman and Bahamas, Ireland and Switzerland, all provide a one-stop destination for clients and professional advisers.

Dr Raymond Ashton About Raymond

When looking at Raymond, it wouldn’t be complete without mentioning his passion and knowledge of football which is legendary.  Other than his devotion to Manchester City Football Club, where he has had a long and close association including being a one-time shareholder prior to the purchase and expansion of the Club, on and off pitch, by Sheikh Mansour in 2008.

Even the reason for Raymond’s support of Manchester City FC is naturally linked to Guernsey. His mother was evacuated from Guernsey just before the invasion of the Channel Islands during the Second World War and along with many other Guernsey children was on the same boat heading for the UK as the young Bill Spurdle who spent a good part of his footballing career at Manchester City FC.

FA Cup 18 May 2019

As a youngster, when in isolation during a substantial bout of meningitis, Raymond watched the heroics of the late Bert Trautmann on TV in the 1956 Cup Final. Raymond enjoys substantial hospitality at the glamorous Etihad Stadium in East Manchester where he continues to enjoy the games and welcome his clients and friends.
